Artist Note:
This piece took shape slowly, over around 30 hours, through the careful layering of ink - an accumulation of textures, like the glen itself. The foreground path, cracked and slipping into the land, felt symbolic as I worked: a remnant of human presence overtaken by time and moss. It’s a place that asks you to slow down, to pay attention.
Unlike some of my more expansive landscape works, Poet’s Glen is intimate - both in size and spirit. I didn’t try to open the space up; instead, I leaned into its closeness. The trees feel almost like a gathering, and the path - broken, but still stretching forward - became a quiet focal point.
It’s a painting about layered memory: how land remembers us, and how we remember it in return.
